New Year New You! for the busy WOMAN!

If you're like me there just are not enough hours in the day,  so we sometimes skimp on our facial care (or skip all together)

Here are some tips for the BUSY WOMAN!  This is the process that I try to follow but does not always work into my schedule.

Here are some other great tips to help improve your skincare with out adding tons of extra time,  these tips are from Healthsite.com

A juices -  keeps your body healthy, both inside and outside. Consumption of vegetable and fruit juices is the best way to get a healthy skin. Fiber and other essential nutrients, like vitamins and minerals, found in most vegetables and fruits will help flush out the toxins that affect your overall skin. They also contain antioxidants that inhibit the growth of free radicals that are known to cause damage to body cells.
Choose your favorites from the list and make sure to have it every morning: Spinach juice, aloe vera juice, carrot and beetroot juice, cucumber juice, fresh tomato juice, pomegranate juice, papaya juice and ginger lemon juice.
Clean your makeup brushes regularly
Cleaning your makeup brushes should be an important part of your beauty routine. Because your old and dirty makeup brushes can clog your pores and oil glands.  Personally I use the Jordan Essentials Gentle Cleanser to clean my brushes
When used daily, makeup brushes can accumulate dead skin cells, dirt, oil, pollution, and bacteria, which can cause skin infections. Therefore, skin experts recommend washing your concealer and foundation brushes once a week.
Avoid direct heat exposure
Too much exposure to sun can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer. Moreover, you should avoid getting too close to heaters and fireplaces, as they can also harm your skin.
Try to avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when its rays are strongest. While stepping out, use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Reapply every two hours.   Love using the Jordan Essentials Mineral Makeup with it's natural SPF protection.
And, of course, drink plenty of water (around eight glasses of water a day) to keep your skin hydrated.   Something that I'm working on,  so on my 2020 to be improved on list
Use silk pillowcases
Quality sleep or getting eight hours a night is a must for your skin health. But another secret to healthy skin is silk pillowcases.  Use of silk pillowcases help prevent wrinkles, keep skin hydrated, and regulate body heat.
Silk is also good for your hair — as it helps avoid tangles and breakage.   I've never tried using Silk Pillow Cases.
Choose the correct cleanser for your skin type
Before you start your skin care routine, it is important to know you skin type. Because what works for her may not work for you. Moisturize you skin right after you get out of the shower and right before you go to bed.   Love the Jordan Essentials Tinted Moisturizer and Red Wine Deep Moisturizer

Sunday Cooking goodies

Baked Chicken and Peppers! #recipes

I'm trying to break the habit of eating out after work,  and are looking for healthy meals that  my pickier eater "hubby"  will also like.  Bet this would also work with the Turkey left overs!

Ingredients
3 lbs chicken breasts or thighs, boneless & skinless
1 large garlic clove, grated
1/2 tsp himalayan pink salt
Ground black pepper, to taste
1 medium onion, finely chopped
10 brown mushrooms or 2 portobellos, chopped
2 large bell peppers, chopped
1 tbsp coconut or avocado oil
1 cup hard cheese like mozzarella or marble, shredded

Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Rinse chicken and if using breasts cut in half lengthwise. In a large baking dish, add chicken, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well to coat evenly and spread in a single layer. Cover and bake for 20-25 minutes. Chicken is cooked when pale and surrounded by clear juices.
In the meanwhile, preheat large ceramic non-stick skillet on low-medium heat and swirl oil to coat. Add onion and saute for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms and saute for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally. Add bell peppers and saute for 5 more minutes, stirring.
Remove chicken from the oven and turn broiler on High. Separate chicken a bit from each other and top each piece with vegetables (sprinkle around too) and top with cheese. Broil for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve hot with rice, quinoa or veggies.

Tip Tuesday: For your reference - Essential Oils Age Chart

One of the questions that I hear from our Mom's and Grandmom's is what age can we use essential oils on the babies.    Many of the essential oils are based on the individual oil itself.

Here is a quick reference chart on the Essential Oil Blends. I will see if this needs updating to the current catalog but it is a great age reference chart.

Quick Reference Chart for our Essential Oils and EO Blends. 🌿This is for items in the current catalog. (Sping/Summer 2019) We have also included the essential oils in the blend.

Monday Moment - Are you givinig Toxic Stocking Stuffers?

This post was shared on facebook by  Katrina Teterekidis and I wanted to share it in full,  As I think my office if "hand sanitizer" crazy.

Readying through this post I think of my niece, she is using hand sanitizer constantly and now I'm wondering if it is a "trigger" for her migraines.    I know that she picks them if she like the scent.  I'm working on getting her moved over to the healthier Jordan Essentials hand sanitizer.

🎁If I could encourage you to do ONE thing this holiday season, it would be to stop buying this stuff for kids, grand babies, nieces, or ANYONE on your list.
🍥The bath bombs.
🍥The colorful hand sanitizer.
🍥The sparkly bath gel.
🍥The hand lotion.
🍥The makeup
Allergies. Eczema. Migraines. UTIs. Hyperactivity. Infertility. Hormone disrupters. Cancer.
So many of the ingredients in these products are linked to these. And they're totally normalized in our culture.👎
$2.75 sounds like a great price point for stocking fillers ....be careful with all the hidden side effects
The NICNAS & TGA are doing NOTHING to test the safety of the products we use daily in our homes on our most precious babes. #sadbuttrue
💚So please, just like you do with food, take a moment to read the ingredients before you put these in your cart, because what goes ON the body, ON the largest organ, our skin goes IN the body.🧐
Here's your cheat sheet of what to start avoiding:
🔘DEA/MEA/TEA
🔘Fragrance/Parfum
🔘Methylisothiazolinone (MIT)
🔘Parabens
🔘PEGs (of any kind)
🔘Petroleum & Petroleum byproducts
🔘Propylene Glycol
🔘Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
🔘Synthetic colors & dyes( all the numbers)
I believe in using safe options and empowering you with the knowledge to either make your own personal care products or how to select safer options. Just ask 🤗
(Ps. Not 100% my words, but 150% my sentiments! I’ve shared & tweaked the post from the inter webs, I couldn’t find the original source to share from there so if this belongs to you please let me know for correct credit) 🤗

Who knew that BAY LEAVES could be so healthy

Bay Leaves . . . .

I do use bay leaves in a couple of the old family holiday recipes,  but I never knew how healthy they could be. . . check out this great information that I found online.

These are called "Bay leaves"
Many people add bay leaves to foods especially jollof rice(Nigerian), red meat and poultry but do you know why bay leaves are added to food?   When asked why, some reply: to add flavor to the food👐

Do you know that If you boil some bay leaves in a glass of water and taste it, it will have no flavor?
Now why do you put bay leaves in the meat?

The addition of bay leaves to meat converts triglycerides to monounsaturated fats, and for experimentation and confirmation:

Cut the chicken in half and cook each half in a pan and place on one bay leaf, and the other without bay leaf and observe the amount of fat in both pans.

If you have bay leaves, there is no need for a pharmacy. Recent scientific studies have shown that bay leaves have many benefits & helps to get rid of many serious health problems and illnesses.

The benefits of bay leaf are: -

*Bay leaf treats digestive disorders and helps eliminate lumps, Heartburn, Acidity & Constipation.

*It helps regulate bowel movement by drinking hot bay tea.

*It lowers blood sugar and bay leaf is also an antioxidant

*It allows the body to produce insulin by eating it or drinking bay tea for a month.

*IT eliminates bad cholesterol and relieves the body of triglycerides.

*It's very useful in treating colds, flu and severe cough as it is a rich source of vitamin "C", you can boil the leaves and inhale steam to get rid of phlegm and reduce the severity of cough.

*Bay leaf protects the heart from seizures and strokes as it contains cardiovascular protective compounds.

*It's rich in acids such as caffeic acid, quercetin, eigonol and bartolinide, substances that prevent the formation of cancer cells in the body.

*It eliminates insomnia and anxiety, if taken before bed, helps you relax and sleep peacefully.

Drinking a cup of boiled bay leaves twice a day breaks kidney stones and cures infections ...

Just like garlic and ginger are a must find amongst my collection of spices, Bay leaves are a must see in my collection of spices too(my little spice secrets to good aroma and flavor) 👌👍

Do you use bay leaves in your cooking?

Skincare Tips for Dry Skin

The seasons are changing and chances are so is your skin!
Dry skin occurs when skin doesn’t retain sufficient moisture, resulting in redness, cracking, flaking, or scaling.  Often, the outer layers of the skin (the epidermis) becomes more dry when the outside humidity levels are low, such as during dry and cold winter months.  When the air is dry, the epidermis must work harder to retain sufficient moisture in the skin to keep it soft and supple. So how can you avoid dry skin and how can you treat it if you have it?

1) DRINK LOTS OF WATER.
Staying hydrated internally is crucial for proper cell hydration including skin cells.  When you are dehydrated, the skin suffers too. Experts agree that to stay properly hydrated, it is recommended to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day.
2) AVOID HOT SHOWERS.
Although it is tempting to take those long, hot showers...especially during these winter months, hot water breaks down the lipid barriers of the skin which decreases natural internal moisture.  Warm showers are fine, but try not to overindulge in too much hot water if your skin is dry.
3) USE BOTANICALLY INFUSED LOTIONS AND BODY BUTTERS.

When your skin is especially dry, it is important to use a quality moisturizer to help add hydration to the skin and lock it in.  Not all moisturizers are created equal, however. Many top commercial brands include petroleum-based ingredients which can actually dry your skin even more!  Jordan Essentials uses deep moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, aloe, and beeswax that are nontoxic, good for the skin, and highly effective.
4) LAYER MOISTURIZERS FOR OPTIMUM BENEFIT.
For dry skin, you may need more than just one lotion to reverse the dryness.  Working with a Jordan Essentials Consultant to sample and try before you buy as well as customize the best products for your skin and situation is a huge plus.
Generally, for the body we recommend cleansing, light exfoliating, moisturizing, then sealing in the moisture with Jordan Essentials Lotion Bar.  For the face, we recommend JE Gentle Cleanser Foaming Wash, Gentle Exfoliant, Toner Mist, Multi-Peptide Firming Serum and/or Age Defying Serum, Time Rewind Eye Gel, and Deep Daily (or Red Wine) Moisturizer.
5) APPLY MOISTURIZER IMMEDIATELY AFTER BATHING.
Using a moisturizer when the skin is still slightly damp after bathing actually helps seal in more moisture than when applying to dry skin.  You can also use Jordan Essentials Hydrating Body Spray to add bonus moisture right before applying your JE Lotion or Body Butter.
6) USE A HUMIDIFIER.
Adding some humidity to the room will help balance some of the external dryness.  If you have the option, set your humidifier to 60%, a level that may help support the top layer of skin.
7) AVOID SCRATCHING.
Dry skin can itch and become uncomfortable.  Soothe itchy dry skin with Jordan Essentials Skin Relief Lotion, Jordan Essentials Helio Skin Superfood Lotion, Jordan Essentials Magnesium Lotion, or Jordan Essentials Hand & Body Lotion.  Keep one of these lotions on hand in one of our convenient travel sizes when out and about.

Dangerous Skin care routines that should be avoided right away

This past week I had several articles in my inbox address  skincare NO NO's.  I pride myself on being pretty good about my skin care routine and my complexion shows it!  It's the best that it has ever been.

I know that we each have our particular skincare  routine that we follow both morning and night,  and might even through in an extra one after exercising.   Stress and pollution in the environment, maintaining the health of our skin has become imperative now.  Once I became a label reader as to what was in my products,  I began to see the difference.

I have to admit that I am guilty of one of those NO NO's  hot water,  oh how I love my hot showers.   BUT I never wash my face in the shower,  I always wash it afterwards,  and my hubby teases me about it all the time.   While the water I use with my gentle cleanser is not as hot as my shower,  it is still extremely warm.

No No # 1 - Using Hot Water to wash your face

While most of us love the feeling of hot water on our face, in reality, it's doing more harm to your skin.  Hot water can cause blood vessels to burst, irritation and also give rise to dry skin problems.

No No # 2 -  Using Tons of night care products

I have always been one to use most of my products in the morning, and just a moisturizer at night.   But there seems to be a trend of using multiple skin product at night.  Many of the products out there don't get absorbed into our skin.  The products might cause a layer on your skin, blocking your pours, and resulting in acne breakouts.    A battle that I fought through most of my teens and early adult life.

No No # 3 - Using Facial wipes

In July I was at a conference and in the motel room they actually has facial wipes/ makeup removers.   I didn't use them,  as I love my Gentle Cleanser and my Cucumber Spa Polish.  But I through one in my travel bag for emergencies.  Guess I'll be throwing it out.  Many carry these almost everywhere,  especially the gym.  We use the facial wipes to remove makeup from our skin, which is very dangerous.  Using facial wipes pulls and tugs our skin and hence should be used in emergencies only.

No No # 4 - Not using moisturizer after exfoliation

I love exfoliating my skin with my Cucumber Spa Polish,  especially after exercising,  but I always use moisturizer.   Sometimes it's my daily moisturizer (a lighter one) and other times I use the heavier red wine deep moisturizer,  it will help hydrate your skin and leave is soft and supple.

No No # 5  Not reading the labels and know what is in the products you are using

I use the Jordan Essentials Skincare line on my face,  actually my entire body.  Once I started becoming a label reader I realized how many toxins were in the products I was using,  it explained away a lot of the skin problems I was having.   Make it a point to know what all the key ingredients are in the products you are using.   Watch for harsh chemicals and even if its the right products for your skin type.
