Valentine's Day is for Kids too!

I remember back to when I was a kid,  I loved  Valentine's Day,  not for the party that we had at school,  or writing out all those little Valentine's Day cards,  but the "Valentine's Day" Gift that we would get from Mom and Dad.  Now with 5 girls,  all different ages,  we would head off to school at different time,  but on Valentine's Day Morning we would have waiting for us at our seat at the breakfast table.    It was wonderful,  but torture at the same time.   It was a solid chocolate,  but we were not allowed to eat it until we got home from school!

Times have changed,  now there is a lot more attention paid to the amount of sugar that one eats.  For me I loved the sugar high (not so sure my parents did),  but as I got older, my Valentine's Day treat was followed by that outbreak of acme.

Do you provide your children with Valentine's Day Gifts?   If so what type of gifts do you give?  My husband and I don't have children of our own,  but we love spoiling all the Nieces and Nephews (now the Great Nieces and Nephews).    But in recent years their Valentines gifts have taken a different approach .   check it out.

You maybe asking yourself, what can you get for the kids for Valentine's Day that isn't overflowing with sugar? Jordan Essentials, of course!!
Lavish the little ones in your life with our Lovely Lion Head-to-Toe Lotion. They will absolutely adore the fun citrus scent and having their very own JE lotion....you will be thrilled they have healthy bath & body products and as a bonus: no sugar crash!

Fact Friday: Gluten FREE

To be honest I never thought much of it.   I have a brother-in-law that tried to go gluten free years ago and it was really tough.   Now it seems that "Gluten" Allergies are more readily diagnosed.  Others just choose to participate in a "Gluten Free"  life style for one reason or another.

We all know about and can look for gluten in our food,  and name brands are now paying attention,  Betty Crocker has a line of Gluten Free Products, as does Bisquick.  Tyson even has a gluten Free Chicken that they offer.   You can see an entire food market developing around "gluten free".

How Does FDA Define 'Gluten-Free'?

In addition to limiting the unavoidable presence of gluten to less than 20 ppm, FDA will allow manufacturers to label a food "gluten-free" if the food does not contain any of the following:
  1. an ingredient that is any type of wheat, rye, barley, or crossbreeds of these grains
  2. an ingredient derived from these grains and that has not been processed to remove gluten
  3. an ingredient derived from these grains and that has been processed to remove gluten, if it results in the food containing 20 or more parts per million (ppm) gluten

Did you ever stop to ponder the fact that many of your bath and body products also contain "gluten" and for those with allergies or sensitivity it's a major concern.   Personally I would not have giving a thought about "gluten" being in the products that I put on my skin,  however the founder of Jordan Essentials has a "wheat sensitivity" so she has taken the time to educate us about "Gluten-Free".     So don't be afraid to question what is in the products that you put on your skin.

Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have about the ingredients of our products.

Testimony Thursday: Tinea Versicolor

I love hearing how our products have helped our customers (and consultants) with problems.   It is recommended that you always mix  your essential oils with a carrier oil or lotion.  In the case below,  Terri is discussing Tea Tree oil and Sunlower & Jojoba Multi-purpose Oil.    I'll also mix with our Naturally Unscented Essential Oil Base Spray for a spitzer on problem areas.

I have to share.. I am loving our essential oils!! I have flare ups of Tinea Versicolor from time to time.  I was being treated by a dermatologist and then we moved and I just haven't been able to take the time to find another one. Recently I had a flare up on my back, this is where it flares, on my back usually. The itching can drive you insane when it gets going! I mixed about 5 drops of tea tree with our oil that came in the Essential Oils kit, and applied twice a day for a week. It's better already and doesn't itch anymore! The spots are fading! Contrary to the document in the files, it is not caused by tanning beds, it's a fungus that we all carry on our bodies and at times our bodies can get flare ups or 'infections' for lack of a better word.

The Essential Set includes: Peppermint, Tea Tree, Orange, Lavender, and Eucalyptus essential oils, 2 oz unscented hand and body lotion, 2 oz Sunflower and Jojoba oil, mini diffuser reeds, and an essential oil mixing jar.

Please get your flu shot -- it's not to late

I for one got my flu shot this year for the first time in about 10 years,  even dragged my husband along to get his first of a life time.   You may ask what got me on the band wagon of being sure that everyone that I know is aware how  DANGEROUS the flu is.   On January 5th a friend of mine was admitted to the hospital with the flu.  Within days they put Holly into a medically induced coma because her body was fighting the treatments.

So our decision to go and get our shots,  then I found out from the pharmacist that it takes two weeks to become completely effective.   Holly was only 36 years old,  a wife,  the mother of two and a very active networker,  and big supporter of those in Direct Sales.    On Friday night,  January 17th,  we lost Holly due to complications with the flu.  A devastating loss  to her family and everyone who knew here.

Yes it was just the normal strain of flu is taking young men and women 35-45 years of age.   From what I understand (and, I'm not a Medical Doctor) is that the liquid in a Flu shot is NOT a live vaccine! Therefore, you cannot get the flu from the flu shot! With that said, for those people that get sick after they get a flu shot, chances are 1) it was not the flu, 2) they were carrying a nasty virus that happened to show up after they got the shot, or 3) they hate needles and are simply afraid to get the shot. Yes, it's true that H1N1 is also killing people north of Houston, and there is no vaccine for H1N1. Many people in Holly's same predicament (ventilator and in a medically-induced coma) have the regular, everyday strain of flu. Maybe they got the flu shot in October, maybe they didn't. People NOW are succumbing to the flu. GET YOUR VACCINE, TODAY!

You can call your doctor,  or drop in at your local drug store.   David and I went to Kroger's to get ours.

So please encourage everyone that you know to obtain their flu shots.   I know I will not miss another.

January is National Oatmeal Month!

There seems to be a day,  week or month for almost anything!   But when I saw that they donated an entire month to Oatmeal,  I was surprised.

I know that many people eat Oatmeal for breakfast,  especially on these COLD WINTER days.  Then you have those that have made their January resolutions for "eating healthier"  which includes  adding OATMEAL to their routine.

For me  January was the first time that I used an Oatmeal Milk and Honey Lotion Bar from Jordan Essentials.    As it turns out Oatmeal Milk and Honey is our best selling scent.   I know I have a lot of men that love the scent.  The stories that I hear from them  "Gee it smells like my grandma's kitchen",   "ohh,  smells just like when the cookies come out of the oven",   "it so reminds me of home".    "ummm that yummy".

It's also wonderful to know that Oatmeal Milk and Honey was one of our first Scents,  when the company was launched in Nancy's Kitchen in the Winter

To me it always reminded me of winter and being cozy at home.   What does the Scent of Oatmeal Milk and Honey remind  YOU of?

Thursday Testimony: . . . just had to share

NANCY:   I had to share a story from my Mom, Helen Wells Elston, Mom had a 4 inch incision and a tumor removed from her head in Oct, 2011. Praise the Lord she is in full remission and we do a check up each 6 months with her doctor. In her last appointment he was amazed she had so much hair growth. He shared he does not see new hair growth after surgery, especially this large on the scalp. She got to thinking she did not change her vitamins or anything else except I made her use the JE healthy shampoo. We did not want any harmful chemicals on her scalp, so we have all agreed to give the Jordan Essentials SLS, Paraben and DEA Free Shampoo a big shout out and share! Enjoy from our family to yours, Nancy Bogart

Tuesday Tip: Help for Winter Skin

Tuesday Tip:

The key to healthy, beautifully soft skin is getting rid of the dead, dry skin cells....create a gorgeous glow to your skin with our Salt Scrub!

Choose your favorite fragrance (try the Coconut Papaya for a tropical scent during these long winter days!) and place your jar next to the kitchen sink along with Jordan Essentials Hand & Body Lotion. The Salt Scrub naturally exfoliates and polishes your skin, no chapped hands for you this winter.

Personally I love using the salt scrub on my legs during the winter,  it keeps the dry skin flakes from being all over the inside of my slacks with I take the off.

Me Monday: Oh What to Pack

On Friday I'm on a plane to Birmingham AL, and I need to decide what to pack,  with this unpredicable weather it really is hard to decide.   But when I saw this little graphic,  I'm sure this is how my husband feels every time I pack.

A little history,  back in 2003 I was one of Ten Women to receive a National Award from American Business Women's Association.   Our group of 10 (or as many that can make it) get together every January.  A different city each year . . we get to tour,  catch up, talk and laugh.

One year I had to prepack as David and I were leaving on a trip when I got back from another trip.  To save time, and the only thing I would need to do is take the "Important Stuff"  out of the suit case I had and add them to what was going.  He does his usual grumble as he's loading the car about my packing everything including the kitchen sink well he always does that, think it helps him figure out how to get everything into the car.    Well he starts unpacking the car at the motel,  and I'm standing there dumbfounded because, he's pulling out my empty suitcases from my previous trip.   I asked why he loaded the empty suitcases into the car . . . his answer was simple  "well they were in the bedroom" with the other suitcases.  Ugh . . .

Well anyway I'm packing,  and my new set of suitcases are a little smaller,  but since I'm only going for a long weekend,  I've decided that in 2014 I will be a more Conservative packer and get everything into ONE SUITCASE plus my carry on (that will have Nook and Tablet).  But let me tell you it's hard to pack when the temperatures are ranging from 30 degrees to 64 degrees (if you can believe the weathermen).  What makes it even harder that since moving to Houston from Erie, PA many years ago,  my blood must have thinned because it does not take much for me to get cold,  and with Hormones in flux it does not take much to bring on a hot flash.

Well I guess winter clothes and heavy sweaters are a must,  along with some lighter clothes,  but I've got a few more days to figure out what I'm going to wear and pack, while fitting into ONE SUITCASE!   Decisions, Decisions.

Make your own "Natural" Fabric Softener

I'm in the process of trying to remove "chemicals" from our day to day life at home and just loved this wonderful idea about making our own fabric softener,  using Lavender Essential oil.

There are so many ways to use Jordan Essentials Llavender Essential Oil!! Did you know you could use your Lavender Oil to make a natural laundry softener? Here's how:

Fill a quart-size glass canning jar with white vinegar and add about 20-25 drops of Jordan Essentials Lavender Oil, use a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol (for emulsion), then put on the lid, shake it up and done!! Use about a half cup in your fabric softener receptacle of your washing machine...it's good for your clothes, skin, machine and very inexpensive!

Jordan Essentials - A Family Thing

I've shared many posts over the years about Jordan Essentials being the Trusted Name in Family Skin Care.  I've shared that our Baby Premier Set is the most popular set,  however I don't believe that I've talked about our  "Pampered Chick's Set".

Those that I sell are usually to "grandma" or "auntie" to be given as a gift to that special little girl.  Mom's for a special gift for something extra ordinary that her tweeny has done.   The list goes on,  but I have to say,  that one of our Jordan Essentials family has had an experience that I have yet to have.

Had my youngest customer today - 5 year old Josephine ordered the Pampered Chick set at a party today and paid me in quarters.

  • A fun collection for girls.
  • Available in Black Raspberry Vanilla Fragrance.
  • Set includes: a Lotion Bar, Travel Size Spritzer, Shower Gel, and cute Tote.
TIP:  Refill this set from our  regular  Jordan Essentials Product Line.  Lotion Bar's can be purchased separately.

Fact Friday: A little Fact about Tea Tree Oil

Fact Friday:  Tea Tree Oil

Did you know that Dr. Penfold did a study in 1923 and found that Tea Tree essential oil was 12 times stronger then carbolic acid? Carbolic acid was used at the time as an antiseptic bactericide.

I've been using Tea Tree oil on my bug bites for years (seems I'm allergic to most things that bite and the bite swells up to the size of a half dollar) it not only reduces the itching,  but the swelling also.

Is your Resolution the same ole thing?

I know I'm guilty of the same resolutions year after year.  So much so I have them memorized.  You know the ones,  Exercise more,  Eat less,  be more organized.   Well,  yes I still want to do all that,  and I promise that I will work on it.  BUT  it will not be my new years Resolution!

I've been thinking what I wanted to do,  what I wanted to work towards,  and realized that I'm not getting any younger.   Then I saw the list of Jordan Essentials Prize Winners for the Month of November and 15 days in  December . . .

Congratulations Peggy F!
"Santa came early! Here's the really great HP laptop I won from the last JE contest. It even has a touch screen that I'm sure I'll figure out how to use . For all the new consultants, this is your future. Grab hold and enjoy the life Jordan Essentials can help you achieve. — with Nancy Bogart."

WOW!  Congrats to ALL the ladies.   I've made it my New Year's Resolution to  "Build a Career" with  Jordan Essentials as we have so much to give!   Now I've been with the Company a long time,  started off with just buying for me,  then  some of my friends,  then as a way to pay the electric bill at home.    I always thought that Jordan Essentials would be my retirement income,  but why wait,  why not take advantage of everything they are offering.  Why not win some of those gifts and cash bonuses.  Why now earn the  Cruise to the Mexican Riveria.   WHY NOT!!!

So my New Years Resolution is to make a plan and work that plan.  My upline is already on board and have put together a GREAT Program to "Help me,  Help myself to "Build that Career" in the year of 2014.   I'm working the plan one step at a time.   I'm going to take advantage of all the GREAT TOOLS that are being made available through Jordan Essentials and my upline!

My friend Suzette is always telling me,  say what you want out loud,  let other's know that it's yours,  take ownership and move forward.  (Suzette Peoples is the Author of  It's All About You!).   So 2014 is the year I am going to take ownership of what I want!
