The Lotion Bar

One of my customers requested that I post information about our Lotion Bar to my blog.

This is Jordan Essentials signature product: the hand lotion bar. The Lotion Bar contains an array of wonderful oils blended into a beeswax base that promotes soft, healthy skin. Is Jordan Essentials Green?

This is a question that I've been asked more frequently over the past few months, so I posed the question to our home office, as I was not quite sure what the answer was. I knew that ALL of the Jordan Essential Product line was "Made in the USA", most right in Nixa MO.

Here is what I learned, yes indeed Jordan Essentials is "GREEN", not just in our products but in our packaging also. I had noticed the gradual change in our packaging over the past year, but it was really apparent with our newest product launch.

All of our packaging is made in the USA. The containers are recyclable, now only through your area recycling programs, but they're great for reuse in the home and for crafting projects.

Feel Blissed out

Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday weekend. My husband and I took a few extra days and visited some of his aunts and uncles in Nebraska . . .so once again I was able to use the drive to catch up on some of my reading.

I read a brief article on "Feeling Blissed Out with Ylang Ylang Oil" in Women's World. This caught my attention as one of our products has Ylang Ylang oil in it. It went on to report that a British Study of 144 people studied the aroma of ylang-ylang which smells like a sweet flower blossom and it had a soothing effect on narly every single subject. The article also mentioned a Thai Study on Ylang Ylang oil, and it showed folks exposed to Ylang Ylang saw their blood pressure drop.

Back to School: Avoiding Colds and Flu

School has already started here in Houston, and it definately means that the "Creepy Crud" will soon follow. Our little darlings seem to want to share the cold and flu germs not only with other Children but with Mom and Dad too.

Since my Dad's double heart attack, by-pass and all the related stuff we went through for over a year, I pay more attention to these things, and about wanting to keep the "Creepy Crud Bugs" away from him. We thought as most people do that the "instant hand sanitizers" where the answer until we were told at the hopsital they're good as a quick stop gap, but remember that they also kill the good bacteria, not just the bad bacteria.

Yesterday our local news station ran a spot on "Keep your Kids healthy Tips" in which hand washing was promoted as the BEST option to fighting "Creep Crud". I went to their site to check out the news, and they had a wonderful link with some great tips to "Keeping your Kids Healthy"

Now I know that my Nephews always have to be reminding to stop what they are doing and wash their hands, as do many children. The "EYE's" have it!

My eyes are something that I don't normally think about as they are hidden behind my glasses, and of course when I take my glasses off I don't see very much. So about the only time I give my eyes some thought is when they are tired, or weeping from allergies.

Earlier this month I was at an ABWA meeting and they had a plastic surgen as the guest speaker, and I was totally surprised by the number of women that had questions about their eyes. For all different reasons, not just wrinkles or bags.

So when I realized that we were coming out with some "EYE" products I was so excited and could not wait to try them. Then it was mentioned to me that many of the ladies have been using our Skin Firming Serum and our Age Defying Serum on their eyes. Now I've been using both on my face and never once thought of using them on my eye lids (I am now).

Vanilla Cream

Several times in the past, I've mentioned that product sales seem to go in Cycles, and while we're only a few Days into the Month of August, I've already seen a Rush on Vanilla Cream.

While I too love the smell of Vanilla in my home, it's not my preference to wear. But almost every sale this month included something from our Vanilla Cream Scent line. One of my customers has started her Holiday Shopping and purchased 2 five packs of Vanilla Cream Lotion Bars.

I've done a little research, and loo and behold, Vanilla is the most popular Gift Giving Scent.

Salons can be scary places

About a year or so ago, I had the opportunity to hear a local politician speak about the trials and tribulations she had in breaking through the political glass ceiling in a Texas Small town, typically run through the "good ole boy" network.


A few months ago I was amazed to hear that she had passed away. When I heard more about it in the news, they were talking that it was an infection that she picked up at the Salon when she went to get her feet done. Made me ever so glad that I use our products on my feet daily and don't need to go to a salon for that.


This whole mess came to mind when I received and email to an article titled 9 Diseases You can Get from the SALON.


It talks about Mad cow disease, hepatitis, fungus, even stroke—these can all result from a day of relaxation and beautification at the salon. Beauty is only skin deep, but you're going to have to look beyond the surface to make sure your next trip to the beauty parlor leaves you pampered and free of these nine frightening health risks.


Several of my customers tell me that they will take their Jordan Essentials products to the Salon with them when they go. I for one love the flexibility of pampering in the privacy of my home on my time schedule.

What do you put on a Burn?

Personally I'm not a coffee drinker, but I'm told that hot coffee or tea is really the thing to drink after eating a meal. Me, I do prefer something cold, and yesterday while out at a luncheon I really wish that everyone at my table drank something cold.

The waiter was pouring coffee and some spilled and got hot coffee on the "lady" to my left and on me. He was sorry, but that didn't keep either of us from going Ouchy, Ouchy.

I pulled out a sample of shea butter from my purse and gave it to her, and she put some on the burn, as I did. But I'm used to putting shea butter on kitchen burns and curling iron burns (which do happen from time to time at 5am). Didn't think anything more of it.

Then I received a call telling me how wonderful the Shea butter was and that it took all the sting out and she wanted to order some.

Some Short Exercises for Relaxing

Relax and Refresh

This weekend I spent some time looking for a new desk for home, so I was in both of the major office supply stores in our area, not to mention the routine Grocery and Walmart runs.

The first thought that crossed my mind was it's only JULY, so WHY all the School supplies. . . then it hit me . . . school starts in just a few weeks!

Now in my mind, it does not matter if your a Working Mom, a Stay at Home Mom, or a Teacher your STRESS LEVELS will be Mounting over the next few weeks. Worried about how you're going to get it ALL done and still on budget.

Regretfully, I can't help you with that, but I can share some "Short Exercises for Relaxing" which just might help you get through the start of the school year.

Short Hand Massage
1. Lubricate your fingers with a small amount of Body Butter
2. Start from your wrist, working towards your fingers
3. Follow the contours of each hand with stroking movements
4. Gently, slowly squeeze and stretch your fingers one at a time from the left little finger over to the right little finger (Always Rub UP the the fingers from the knuckle to the nail)
5. Use friction on each of your finger joints both back and front
6. Use your thumb to stroke your palm in a circular motion adding a little pressure

The Relaxing Sigh
1. Sit or stand up straight
2. Let out a deep sigh of relief as the air rushes out of your lungs
3. Don't think about inhaling; just let the air come back in naturally
4. Repeat this procedure 8-10 times whenever you feel the need for it, and experience the feeling of relaxation.

Tense/Relax
1. Clench your fists. While keeping them clenched, pull your forearms tightly up against your upper arms.
2. While keeping those muscles tense, tense all the muscles in your legs
3. While keeping all those tense, clench your jaws and shut your eyes fairly tight - not too tightly
4. Now, while holding all those tense, take a deep breath and hold it for 5 seconds
5. Let everything go all at one. Feel yourself letting go of all of your tensions. Just enjoy that feeling for a minute as your muscles let go more and more.

How SAFE is your Sunscreen?

This June when we were on a vacation in the Mountains of New Mexico, I was very careful to use my sunscreen, we were outside the better part of 8 hours per day and I burn so easy, especially when we're that high up. I knew that this would definately put the Jordan Essential SunScreen to the test, because for the past 8 years, I've left this vacation "burnt".

For the first time in my life I experienced the excitement of being outside without "burning to a crisp". My skin was even moisturized, I just love this product. I didn't think more about it, but have been showing everyone my light tan.

Then I noticed that conversations would go to who was using what SunScreen, and about the horror stories about burning or baking when they were in their Teens. Then this weekend I picked up a magazine "Change" and was reading it in the car and there was this great article "How SAFE is your SUNSCREEN?".

The article went on to say that 84% of the 831 sunscreens that EWG Tested (Environmental Working Group) http://www.ewg.org/ tested did not pass health and environmental standards. Many contained potentially harmful chemicals like benzophenone, homosalate and octyl methoxycinnamate amoung others.

Another thing that I leanred was that like most of us I knew about the Ultraviolet A or "UVA" and to make sure that what I used before and now with our Jordan Essentials Sunscreen was to check the "UVA" protection. But I had not thought about "UVB" or Ultraviolet B which consistas of 10% of all UV rays.

So needless to say as soon as we got home, I pulled out my bottle of sunscreen (and our catalog) and here is what it reads:

The Boss is out of Town

A couple times of year, Jordan Essentials Hosts a Mystery Grab bag sale. They're a lot of fun and full of surprises. . . . that some of the products that you may offer run in cycles. I've noticed that of late a couple of weeks back everyone was ordering "body silk", it's great for summer. Then in the past week or so it's been our "facial products".

Stress Out?

One of my friends sent me this cute little guy today, assuring me that they "just knew" that I was stressed out and wanted to send me a virtual hug.

It's amazing how ones friends realize that our annual vacation to New Mexico every June for a week is one of the best stress releases for me. I also take that time to pamper myself, something that like most I don't do enough.

90's and it's only May!

What happened to SPRING? It's only May and we've already had more days in the 90's then I care to think about. Then add in the Gulf Coast Humidity and all I can say is that I'm in a contant state of "WILT". Yesterday while I was out on the range with my husband, one thought kept running through my mind "I'm Melting, I'm Melting".

I was asked: Do men need pampering. . .

I was at a Health Fair recently, and at the booth next to me was a Gentleman representing one of the State of Texas Health Programs. It's not unusual when you have a booth set up at an event to almost learn the presentation for the booth next to yours, mind you I said almost.

Late in the afternoon, he asked me if I would mind answering a few questions for him honestly. Told him I always try to be honest in my answers. . . . then he started laying out the questions one by one.

What product is it you say your Dad stole from you. I then explained that I let my Dad use my Unscented Lip cube, because his nose was raw from a cold and it worked so well for him that he kepts it for future use. Then I explained that when Dad was on Oxygen in the Hospital his nose would get raw and it helped there also.

The next question was What about the Yuckie soap. I proceeded to tell him that my husband is a bar soap man, and I for one don't like the way soap gets Yuckie in soap dish and that I was talking about our wonderful Soap Sacks so that the soap can be used and hung getting rid of that Yuckie Soap bottom.

Then it was, what do you mean Men get addicted. Again I needed to explain that I have many men who use our Lotion Bars for their feet. Since they wear work boots and cowboy boots regularlly and their feet are dry and crackin, some to the point of bleeding. They didn't stop there, Tell me about the kid and the fish. Had to stop for a moment on that one then realized that I had shared a story about one of my TEAM joining. She had put a jar of salt scrub by the sink in the mud room for her husband to use when he came in from fishing. It seems that in an attempt at Father / Child bonding they felt that maybe they needed to include the youngest which was a girl who was dead seat against "bonding" because of the stinky fishy small that got on everyone's hands. But when Daddy used the "Salt Scrub" the fishy smell was gone, so she was eager to go on the next "bonding trip. I then explained that my husband gets dirty and greasy at work, and that he uses the Salt Scrub when he gets home to help remove that grease and grime.

My Embarrassed Husband

Last weekend my hubby David and I went away for a 3 day weekend, for a State Competition and we started the day off in the Rain. . . . Then it cleared up and became hot and muggy, nothing surprising for Texas. We finished for the day about 2:00 in the afternoon and the conversation turned to what we were going to do about food.

Well being exhausted, sweaty and tired I suggested that we just grab something to eat and head for the motel that worked great until David saw the Applebee's sign, so off to Applebee's we went, with me commenting that I hope that was nobody we knew there to see me like I was.
